So if you’ve listened to Mummrat Radio Episode 6 you know all about this, but just in case you don’t here is the scoop. Mummrat/Downinthewell is hosting it’s first NCAA style Tournament where you the voter will help decide the ultimate video game franchise. This week we will give you the first two regions of the bracket and ask you to vote via commenting at the bottom of this article. The next 32 franchises will be unveiled next week on Mummrat Episode 7, so dont wet yourself because mario isn’t on these lists.
The litmus test for the vote is this: Imagine you are at Wal-Mart and you only have enough money for one game, Mario or Zelda and ask yourself which would you buy. All voting will be discussed on Mummrat Episode 7, so tell your friends, your enemies, your family, and your cat (if your cat plays video games)-and vote damn it!

Wins based on the soundtrack alone. Interestingly, these games got worse with each sequel. I had the original, and at the time it was kick ass. I just checked my game shelf and it’s not there. So either I threw it out cause it didn’t work any more or it’s in with my collectibles. Either way, ‘Police Truck’ by the Dead Kennedys. ‘Nuf said!

9. Starcraft
I actually own an original ‘Warcraft’ disc. As in, what “World of Warcraft”, the creepy nerd version of having a gambling addiction is. “Dwarves Ready!!” I’ve since lost the disc for StarCraft, but it’s almost once a month I debate buying a new copy of StarCraft.
I’ll soapbox, StarCraft was one of the first games to offer a seamless internet gameplay system. It’s the precursor to XBox Live and PSN.

I’m such a nerd that I’m well versed in the algorithms that drive the SimCity series, and I actually played some SimCity4 earlier tonight…

All because I couldn’t get past Shao Kahn before it had to go back to Nancy’s Video. The only other game that got me that pissed….Ninja Gaiden on NES, after I re-discovered it in High School.

ALSO, I have to comment on Vic’s comment about Resident Evil and zombie hipster BS. NOT TRUE! Zombie aficionados are usually dorky comic book types or ladies who love the classic zombie cinema. Fighting zombies is way better than fighting terrorists because zombies can represent so many fears that cannot be contained within any other genre. Zombies can be the fear of terrorism OR biowarfare OR disease OR people turning on one another . . . the list goes on and on. Terrorists are just people. They don’t eat you! They don’t rule the night! No one does! They come at you like a whirling dervish, all fists and elbows . . . wait, I’m getting off track. That’s something else.
The moral of this story is that zombies are way scarier and better to fight than terrorists because of 1) their seemingly super human strength 2) their total lack of remorse, emotion, compassion, and conviction and 3) their cannibalistic ways.
